The Patchogue Sketch Club was created for the purpose of getting people together to discover the value of sketching. Sketching itself is its own art form, sketching helps artists "see" better and enhances drawing skills. Sketching is also a fun way of recording the world around us much more intimately than a camera.
The Patchogue Sketch Club Outings are open to everyone and there is no fee, unless the venue where we are sketching charges a fee for admission.

Some sketches from our latest outings
Here's some sketches by some folks from our outing in Blue Point.
Your sketch club is a lovely idea. I have been making and keeping coptic-bound journals for 13 years now, and inviting "who else is here with us" into my journals through sketches, watercolors, poems, and writing. The coptic binding is particularly nice because it lets the pages lie flat. Another, easier binding it the three-hold pamphlet stitch through a cloth spine reinforced with heavy paper such as bristol. These books also lie flat, can have hard covers, and offer an opportunity for decoration on the spine with beads, etc. You can see examples on my website: www.otterpondbindery.com. I am teaching a coptic-binding journal making workshop in Deer Isle next week, and there is one opening if anyone's interested. Good luck with your sketching! So far the results look promising.
